Laser Technology

To better control costs and part lead times RRR has their own laser cutting department.

This equipment is used to cut typical burnouts, gussets, brackets, guards and the classically designed shapes for welding. We have found that by utilizing the Mortise & Tendon technique when fabricating & welding helps to reduce weld times, fixturing, and set-ups.

RRR chose laser cutting because of the ability to perform many "next step" machining operations because of this, machining is significantly reduced by permitting the laser to burn holes previously machined on cnc mills. the capabilities of this system includes cutting accuracies of up to +/- 0.005" on steel up to 1" thick, +/- 0.003" on thinner steel and +/- 0.002" on aluminum up to 0.375" thick. Thinner sheets can be cut at higher speeds. The Laser Machine can cut mild steel, sheet metal, stainless steel, wood and many plastics. The laser system has a prep table to allow for pre-staging the next sheet while laser cutting the current sheet.

The cutting system is equipped with a nesting program to maximum the use of a full plate or just the right size plate for a production runs while using minimal material. The Mortise & Tendon technique also helps for fast assembly of laser cut components. RRR has added counterbalanced tapping equipment "TAP-MATIC FLEX ARM" adjacent to the laser burner to permit quick accurate tapping of laser cut holes without any need to ream the lasered hole prior to tapping. The laser eliminates most CNC machining on flat plate. We also maintain stock sizes of various thicknesses and grades.
